How Often Should You Change Your Underwear?

When You Should Change It More Than Once a Day

There are situations where once isn’t enough.

You should consider changing your underwear twice a day or more if:

  • You exercise or sweat heavily

  • You live in a hot, humid climate

  • You have a physically demanding job

  • You experience discharge or menstruation

  • You’re prone to infections

After workouts, always change into clean, dry underwear as soon as possible. Sitting in damp fabric creates the perfect environment for bacteria and yeast to grow.

What Happens If You Don’t Change It Daily?

Occasionally forgetting isn’t a crisis. But regularly skipping changes can lead to:

  • Persistent odor

  • Acne or breakouts along the waistband area

  • Fungal infections (like jock itch)

  • Increased vaginal or penile irritation

In severe or long-term cases, poor hygiene can contribute to more serious infections — especially if combined with tight or non-breathable fabrics.
